India: Muthoot Pappachan Group’s MPG Hotels targets hospitality sector

Muthoot Pappachan Group, a leading brand in the non-banking financial sector in the country, through its Hotel Infrastructure Division – MPG Hotels & Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, is planning to invest in a big way in the hospitality sector in the coming future.

Recently, the company had opened a new hotel under the brand of The Hilton Garden Inn at Trivandrum. This property at Trivandrum is the first Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in South India. In addition to this, the group is planning to expand Vivanta by Taj situated at Kovalam in Trivandrum District. This is one of the rare beach resorts in the country on a cliff, surrounded by sea and lake. The resort commenced operation in 2003 and is managed by the Taj Group.

Muthoot Pappachan Group (MPG) is planning now to develop 16 new luxury cottages, a tower block with 45 rooms, presidential suite, spa, ayurvedic centre, kids pool and a banquet hall at this property. The banquet hall with a seating capacity of about 300 pax will be opened for guest by September 2014. The master plan of the expansion is prepared by Grounds Kent Architects, Australia with Made Wijaya, Indonesia as landscape consultant.

The Muthoot Pappachan Group (MPG) is also planning to develop hotel properties at Allappuzha, North Kerala, Vengurla (Southern Maharashtra), Chennai and Kochi in the near future. This information was provided by John Muthoot, Chairman & Managing Director, Muthoot Pappachan Group.
