A part of Kuching City will be developed into a ‘seaside city’ in less than twenty years’ time to help boost tourism.
Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said it is his dream for Kuching to have a seaside city to be developed in either Santubong or Sematan area and once materialised, it could be one of the major attractions for tourists in the future.
“Eventually in my dream for Kuching, we have to have a seaside city but today it is still not yet a seaside city but I think it will be achievable less than 20 years from now,” he said when launching Borneo Samariang Resort City Project, a joint venture project between Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMSB) and Sentoria Group Bhd at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching here yesterday.
Taib stated that discussion on a possible joint venture for the seaside city was currently underway and those involved were also looking at the possibility of linking the seaside city with cruises.
