The screening committee constituted by the government selected an agency – KPMG Advisory Services Pvt Ltd, Mumbai-on Monday to draw up a tourism master plan for Goa.
A member of the screening committee said they they picked KPMG from four other companies that were shortlisted from the total of 15 agencies that responded to the request for proposal (RFP) floated earlier this year. The core of the master plan strategy will be to develop an integrated tourism product capable of attracting a low-volume, high-yield segment of the international tourism market to spend their entire holiday in Goa.
For the first time, the government, responding to demands from stakeholders, decided to opt for a consultant to draw up a master plan. The agency will also suggest what type of tourism the state should go in for considering the competitive market. It will take around six months for the agency to submit its report.
