The Times of India reports the Google Zeitgeist 2012 for India indicates coastal tourism destination Kerala has edged out Taj Mahal for the most searched travel location in India. Even Tripadvisor Travelers Choice 2012 for India list Goa as the top India destination ahead of inland cultural locations.
Part of the reason can be attributed to Kerala Tourism being a leader in online promotional activities for the state and one of the first government establishments to make use of the internet to reach out to the world.
Still, is this signaling that the Indian tourism market is developing a keen interest in coastal resort vacations?
At least the Kerala government thinks so as they are calling for proposals in developing the Kovalam-Poovar Tourism Development Corridor.
