What are FBR Zones ?

1 1590

FBR Zones is an abbreviation for Food Beverage Retail/Recreaton Zones.

FBR Zones are not shopping malls or shopping centres. They are places such as Santa Monica Promenade in California, Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, Holland Village, Dempsey Hill, East Coast Seafood Centre, Toa Payoh Town Centre, Kuta in Bali, Cilandak Town Square in Jakarta, Xin Tian Di in Shanghai, Lan Kwai Fong in Hongkong, Lagoi Bay Village in Bintan Resorts and many such places around the world. Not forgetting Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur and Orchard Road in Singapore are in fact a large FBR Zone.

FBR Zones are real estate development typologies before the shopping mall era.  They are characterized by being low rise, outdoors, pedestrian friendly and hives of activity.

As we progressively add content to this site we shall be exploring the master planning and project economics of FBR Zones in some detail.
